[Weekly Workout] 20-Minute Yoga for Back Pain & Sciatica

Got back pain? Give your back some love with this gentle stretch sequence…

Being in pain is no fun! Back pain, in particular, can seem like it impacts every area of your life – which makes sense, since just about every move you make is somehow connected to your back or spinal muscles. One of the best ways to prevent and relieve back pain is to exercise your back, maintain strong back and core muscles, and take your spine through its full range of motion daily. This isn’t always a lot of fun when you’re already in pain, though, so gentle stretching may be all you’re up for.

Many yoga poses are excellent for both strengthening and stretching your back. The gentle 20-minute stretch sequence below may be very helpful for those experiencing back pain or sciatica.

Be sure to listen to your body and don’t push too hard! If you’re already in pain, you can expect some stretches to hurt a bit, but be smart and pay attention to your body’s limits. Go easy, and don’t overdo it.

With regular exercise and stretching, hopefully your back will soon be pain free and back to normal!
